Classy Custom

We don’t quite know whether we love this car so much that it hurts, or that the weird feeling of pain in our chest comes from the complete and utter confusion we feel upon actually looking at it. Found on a Chicago Craigslist, this homebuilt car is listed as a “2011 Mercedes-Benz AMG C8 GTR” for the small sum of $75,000!

Upon closer inspection of the pictures in the ad, we can see that the ridiculously massive hood scoop appears to be from a BMW, while the lower grille comes from a first-gen Mercedes Benz M-Class SUV. A 350 cubic-inch Chevy small block V8 engine powers this puppy, while the four-speed manual transmission is from Volkswagen. An AMG® badge graces the back, along with a pair of Nissan Skyline GT-R badges on each side, and a Mercedes star shines proudly on the engine housing. Because, why not, right?!

Towards the end of the ad, we finally understand where the ridiculous price tag comes from…it’s the alligator skin bucket seats! Despite our confusion, this “Homemade Mercedes” definitely produced some authentic laughs!
